Hi, I'm Amanda!

I'm a photographer & floral designer based in the greater Minneapolis - St. Paul area. I specialize in creating timeless, true-to-color photographs and whimsical yet elegant floral designs.

My path to this creative life wasn't linear (but when is life ever linear?). I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in psychology and have called the Twin Cities my home for over twenty years. Before launching Snaps & Stems in 2023, I spent more than a decade leading human resources and managing dynamic teams. Stepping away to build this studio was a big leap, but it has allowed me to bring my love for people into a whole new light.

My roots deeply shape how I see the world and make art. I grew up in a vibrant Indo-Caribbean household that was always full of music, food, and family traditions. My greatest hope is that you see yourself and your loved ones reflected in my photography. For my floral services, I aim to keep projects eco-friendly and I'm selective about where I source my materials. I take a mindful approach with every project—focusing on a blend of detail and artistry with every snap and stem.

Things that bring me joy (in no particular order):

  • Dancing!
  • Animals, with a soft spot for kitties (I have an orange tabby boy, who sometimes makes an appearance on my IG stories)
  • Maple-flavored lattes and donuts
  • Astrology and when Mercury is not in retrograde
  • Reading (I'm a romance novel girlie, but I also enjoy historical fiction and personal growth books)
  • Good hair and lash days
  • Music and movie musicals (Olivia Dean, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, anything from the early 2000s, Tangled, Mamma Mia!, and La La Land, just to name a few!)

Q&A

What is your shooting style?

I include a mix of narrative, portrait, and lifestyle photography techniques that captures a well-rounded story. I come to each session prepared with a list of poses and prompts (creative cues) specific to your photoshoot.

In addition to some gentle guidance, I also like to let the candid moments unfold. My goal is for you to be present and enjoy the experience. I'll take care of the rest!

What is your editing style?

My photos emulate a dreamy and timeless look with an organic feel. Think images with vibrant blacks, soft whites, and rich earth tones.

I make some color grading edits to create harmony within the photo, but will always keep hair and skin tones true-to-color. I do not offer any retouching, but skin textures are lightly softened through my editing style.

What kind of photography gear do you use?

I shoot with a Nikon Z-Series Mirrorless Camera and Nikon Lenses. I cull using Narrative Select and edit with Adobe Lightroom. I deliver client galleries online right here in Pixieset!

Tech speak aside, I never miss a shot with how fast and focused my camera equipment is. My computer software allows me to efficiently sort through your images and edit with precise control. This means a quick turnaround of high-quality images for you!

Where do you source your flowers? How long does it take to complete an order?

My goal is to purchase from local growers whenever possible (their products are fresher and typically have less chemicals!). When outside of peak flower season, I purchase from online wholesalers.

When in season (May-September), I can fulfil most floral orders within one week. During the colder months (and/or for large quantity orders), generally a 21+ day notice is required.

Do you prep the flowers before arranging?

Yes! This is a must. I spend time pruning leaves and any thorns. I also carefully remove the guard petals on flowers like roses. Stems get a fresh cut and full hydration before going into any project.

For bouquets, stems are hand-tied and wrapped in waterproof paper. Bouquets are stored in water until pick-up or delivery.

For table arrangements, I prep materials and build the base the day before. Delicate florals go in day-of!

What is the client process like?

After we get connected on which service you'd like (you can submit an inquiry through my Contact page!), I'll reach out to set up a free, 15-minute Introductory Call.

The Introductory Call gives us a chance to meet and get to know each other. It's also a great time to ask questions and explore which package is best for you.

From here you will receive a Quote, Project Questionnaire, Contract, and Invoice. Once the logistics are cleared, I'll start sending you digital materials to help bring your photography or floral vision to life!

For larger projects, we'll also complete a 30-minute Consultation Call (included in your package!) to start mapping out the details. We'll go over things like goals, inspo photos, timelines and deliverables.

The last and most important step is for you to enjoy the service! I hope Snaps & Stems makes your day memorable!
